PALM BEACH COUNTY-
Having a nurse and a health room in every school has proven itself to be an invaluable asset to the students of Palm Beach County as thousands of children receive care each day. But, with only one person to handle everything from upset stomachs to issuing medications the job can at times be overwhelming. The schools are asking persons from every neighborhood to help their school nurse by becoming a volunteer aide.
Under the supervision and training of the school nurse, volunteer aides will be helping a child feel a little better by giving the added attention they need when they are not feeling well or assisting with the swish fluoride treatment program assuring children have cavity free teeth.
There are schools in every section of the county that can use a volunteer for as little as four hours a week. Information can be obtained by calling the Palm Beach County School District Department of Student Services at (561) 434-8822.
