PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL The Palm Beach County Health Department is advising individuals that have received antibiotics for the prevention of
anthrax due to their involvement with the AMI building in Boca Raton to continue taking their medication.
Following the
anthrax- related death of an AMI employee on October 5, 2001 health investigators determined the source of exposure was related to the AMI building. As a precaution, employees of the building and those who visited longer than one hour between August 1, 2001 and October 7, 2001 were screened and tested for anthrax and issued a 15-day supply of antibiotics.
Health officials are advising that this group continue with their medication an additional 15 days and are making them available at the Health Departments Delray Beach Annex and Clinic, located at 225 Congress Avenue in Delray Beach from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, October 18-19, 2001.
Further information can be obtained by calling 561-712-6400.
