PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL— Parents still have an opportunity to get their child immunized free before school begins next week by visiting a Palm Beach County Health Department outreach site or clinic Saturday, Monday or Tuesday August 10, 12, or 13.
Saturday August 10, 2002 the Immunization Van will be at C.O. Taylor/Kirklane Elementary School located on Purdy Lane in Palm Springs from 9:00 am until 1:30 PM. The Van will also be located at Plumosa Elementary on NE 2nd Ave. in Delray Beach from 9:30 to 2:30 PM on Tuesday August 13.
Beginning Monday August 12 and throughout the week the Health Department Clinics located from Belle Glade to West Palm Beach and from Jupiter to Delray Beach will be open beginning at 7:00 AM to accommodate those still needing to have their children immunized.
Director of Immunizations and Epidemiology Savita Kumar, MD, said, “Parents and Guardians should bring the child’s immunization records when they come. This will help us reduce the amount of time needed evaluating each child before receiving their shots.”
Kumar added that outreach sites do have a limit on the number of children that can be seen and that all may not be accommodated in the allotted times.
Many private physicians also have the required vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis, mumps, measles, rubella, pertussis, and polio that a child needs to be up to date.
Further information on times and locations can be obtained by calling the Health Department’s immunization office at 561-840-4564 or toll free at 930-3344.
