BEACH COUNTY, FL—Health
Department Director Jean M.
Malecki, M.D. is strongly
urging all county residents
and visitors to take the
necessary precautions
against mosquito bites.
Mosquito control has advised that current conditions are
favorable for continued
increases in mosquito
populations and this weekend
should see a marked increase
due to hatchings following
Hurricane Jeanne.
Residents should take the following precautions:
- Wear long sleeves shirts and long pants especially when out at Dusk and
Dawn
- Use insect repellant containing DEET
- Drain any standing water around the house
Repair
screens around the house and
business,
There have been over 35 cases of confirmed West Nile Virus in
the State of Florida this
year.
