BELLE GLADE, FL- The Palm Beach County Health Department is sponsoring the Second Annual Family Unity Week against HIV/AIDS Conference, February 9-11, 2006 as a continuation of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day which occurs February 7. The Dolly Hand Cultural Center located at Palm Beach Community College will host the event.

Family Unity Week is a three day conference dedicated to educating, empowering and inspiring our community about HIV/AIDS in Palm Beach County. The conference was the brainchild of Coretha Smith, Human Services Program Analyst with the Palm Beach County Health Department, who wanted to assure the people in the Glades area receive the most recent information on HIV/AIDS.

The conference has several learning tracks for those who want to gain knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Topics covered include: HIV Prevention Education, Sexuality and AIDS, Substance Abuse and its impact on the HIV/AIDS infection rates, Churches response to AIDS and others. Saturday, February 11 of Family Unity Week will be youth day to focus on HIV prevention education.
