BEACH COUNTY, FL – March
2 through 8 marks the 19th
year of the Black Church
Week of Prayer for the
healing of AIDS. The Health
Department is supporting the
efforts of these churches by
encouraging them to educate
their congregations on the
devastating effects HIV/AIDS
has had on the black
community.
In Palm Beach County one in
42 blacks is living with
HIV/AIDS and a
disproportionate number of
black women account for a
number of new cases. On
Sunday, March 2 clergy are
being asked to encourage all
to pray for those infected
within their community and
educate others on ways to
prevent the disease.
The Health Department offers
services at its Health
Centers in Belle Glade, West
Palm Beach, Riviera Beach,
Delray Beach, and
Lantana/Lake Worth. The
services provided include,
testing, Dental Care, AIDS
Drug Assistance, Pediatric
Clinics, Primary Medical
Care and Case Management.
