The Palm Beach County Public Health
Department Auxiliary Program
A community group of public-spirited
citizens under the supervision of a
volunteer administrator with the mission
to meet non-budgeted needs necessary to
extend services to our clients.
This group may be made up of regular
volunteers and/or members of the
community who do not regularly
volunteer. The Auxiliary develops and
implements special projects which go
beyond the basic services of the health
center in order to brighten the lives of
needy clients and their families.

Holiday Food Baskets - Checks
with the Coordinator to get updated
listings of names and addresses of needy
families. Works with the chairman to
obtain sufficient food for the basket
project through Food For Families
program - Project Thanksgiving; Local
Grocery Stores and assures baskets are
plentiful.

Christmas Party - Plans are
approved by the Nursing Supervisor and
Health Center Director. Volunteers then
organize and work the event that lights
up the eyes of clients’ children as they
receive Toys for Tots from the United
States Marine Corps and other very
generous donors. Volunteer Santas also
address and send Christmas Cards as
invitations to the event.

Easter Event – Volunteers do it
all from giving clothing to providing
Easter Baskets.

Clothing Committee - Collects
clothing donations - especially for
children. Maintains the inventory in the
centers’ clothes closet and gives them
away to many of the very needy clients.

Membership and Recruitment -
Responsible for deciding on membership
dues. Responsible for annual campaign to
build membership including annual
membership luncheon or tea and for
ongoing recruitment. Volunteer leaders
set the goals and assure they are met.

Fund-raising - Responsible for
working with chairman and Co-chairman to
reach fundraising goals through projects
and community support.

Public Health Emergency Preparedness
- HELP YOUR FAMILY—FRIENDS—NEIGHBORS:
Volunteer to aid in the distribution of
antibiotics, medical triage,
immunizations and other life saving
procedures during a health emergency.
Volunteers and household family members
will receive First Priority medication
in the event of an episode. Training, at
a location near your home, will be
provided for the many and varied duties
to accomplish this mission. Should
understand English. May speak a foreign
language. Must be 18 years or older.

Administrative Assistant/Clerical
Support – Responsible for
correspondence necessary for auxiliary,
typing letters, etc. He/she is also
responsible for telephone calls to
remind volunteers of monthly meetings.
Provide clerical assistance & direct
assistance to various departments.
